Jorine Oosterrhoff

I love it when designers are creative with everyday objects. Jorine Oosterhoff created these snout cups and high tea set. I love her sense of humor. Clever indeed. See more of her work at

Turn Photos into Cartoons

I've seen ads for turning your photos into cartoons and have been curious. So, I gave it a shot. I downloaded photoS which converts digital photos into artistic drawings. It leaves out the details, but works pretty good. It was super easy to download, I was playing with the software within minutes from the download. If you're interested, try this free download at Caricature Soft.

Amanda Nisbet's work has been published in nearly every design magazine. I love her decorating style; she uses both modern and traditional methods, along with bright colors and unique objects, to create a cheerful and comfortable room. She wraps playfulness, sophistication and femininity into her own unique style. Amanda opened her design firm in 1998 in Manhattan, NY. See more of her amazing work at Amanda Nisbet Design

Christiania

(Above photo by Birgit Carlsson)

Surveys show that the Danish people are the most content people on the planet. Christiania is a small community of 850 residents covering about 85 acres in the Danish capital of Copenhagen. Christiania was founded in 1971 when many people began to live in an area that was abandoned by the military. Initially, the area was populated with vagrants and squatters, but developed into somewhat of a hippie community where freedom is embraced. Freedom for artists, musicians and yes, drug dealers. The residents developed their own set of rules, completely independent of the Danish government. Strolling the streets of Christiania you will find paintings, sculptures, live music and theatre. Oleg Oprisco

Oleg Oprisco is a very talented Ukranian photographer. He is also very mysterious or shall I say private? I couldn't find any information regarding this amazing artist. You must view more of his work. Most of his work is seen on Oleg's live journal or his website Oprisco.

Designer Bomi Kim invented this DIY clock. Although it hasn't reached production yet, it is very exciting. Kim has given you the ability to be creative and design your own clock. The brains of the clock are supplied and you provide the customizable clock hands. First seen on Home Rejuvenation.

Penny Tile

This is such a great idea. I love seeing people be creative with resources. Apartment Therapy reader Tova tiled their powder room with pennies. Later, New York's Standard Hotel restaurant tiled the Standard Grill in pennies. I've also seen floors tiled in circular wood which is the same concept, just a different material.

Cassandra Jones

Cassandra has the uncanny ability to take objects and turn them into masterful pieces of art. She used flamingos to create images of botanical prints and wallpaper; other objects were used to create kaleidoscope images. See more of Cassandra's work on her website Cassandra C. Jones

Michael Paulus

I happened to stumble upon Michael Paulus on etsy. I like Michael's sense of humor. He has taken popular cartoon characters and rendered their skeletal system as he imagines it might be.
You can see more of his work on his website Michael Paulus and he also has items for sale on etsy.

Yellena James

A few years ago I bought three prints from Yellena. I've enjoyed watching the changes in her artwork. My prints are similar to the design in the second image above. I think her more recent drawings hold more dimension and depth. Her career really seems to be taking off. She now has her designs on light globes and how cute is this kokeshi doll? You can purchase Yellena's prints on etsy , the glass blown light fixtures can be purchased at schoolhouse electric and the kokeshi doll can be purchased at gallery nucleus.
