Mon Oncle, or 'My Uncle', is a 1958 French film by filmaker Jacques Tati. Quirky and entertaining, this film won both the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Foreign Language Film Awards. These clips are visually entertaining. Wikipedia states, at the time, critics claimed that the film was viewed as a reactionary view of an emerging French consumer society. The film was popular even in the U.S. where rampant consumer consumption and a recession had caused people of all spectrums to question the economic and social values of the era. Source: Wikipedia
