Celia Birtwell

I was recently sitting in the doctor's office reading Vanity Fair when I came across an article on a famous English designer, Celia Birtwell. I instantly fell in love with her design style. From 1966 to 1974, Birtwell and her then husband, Ossie Clark, made quite the duo. She designed whimsical textile prints and he would use her textiles to create clothing for famous people such as Mick Jagger and Twiggy.

After their marriage ended in '74, Birtwell chose a quieter life. In 1984, she opened her own fabric shop in Notting Hill. Since then, she has dabbled in all different forms of design such as wallpaper,(my personal favorite) fabric, fashion, hand bags, shoes, note cards and even cake decorating.

I've spent hours on her website Celia Birtwell. The website is beautiful with some simple animation and beautiful nature music playing in the background. Birtwell's website was designed by the very talented design firm Bose Collins that creates websites, animation and video, branding and illustration.

Scrabble Furniture

Stephen Reed is the designer of this Scrabble inspired furniture. What a clever idea! Reed created this furniture for employees of Bloomberg financial services in London. What a fun playful idea. A person could make their own pillows using this same concept. I think these pillows would be a hit for both children and adults. Source: Freshome

If money were no object, I might have fun shopping at 1st Dibs. I certainly can spend hours just viewing the online store. The website has amazing furniture, some art, beautifully designed rooms and interesting articles.

Woodson and Rummerfield

Woodson and Rummerfield are two very hot and young designers. What I like most about their decorating is that they can take the smallest room such as this tiny little bathroom and make it glamorous. I came across the Woodson and Rummerfield website while browsing on Alkemie. Alkemie is a great website for interior decorating. There are tons of links to designers and all things related to decorating.

Karim Rashid
